H-1B visa cap for FY '05 already reached (Computerworld)

"The cap on H-1B visas granted to foreign workers was reached on Friday (10/1/04) -- the same day the new federal fiscal year began. Never before has the limit been reached on the same day it took effect."
While I'm still not happy about this subject (H1B Visas), it could be worse, as the cap dropped from 195,000 in 2003 to 64,000 in 2004. Still, the republican (who else) Congressman from Texas (big surprise here, too... NOT!) is pushing to make a loophole for foreign nationals who got their Masters' and PhD here in the US. Geez... Things still suck in the IT industry here, like they have to go out of their way to make it any harder?

No, the tenor of this post doesn't mean I'm feeling any better about recent personal events. But thanks to those who've asked. -- M
