The Seattle Times: Nation & World: Congress slamming door on some bankruptcies

"The bank, credit-card and retail industries, which have pushed for the legislation for more than seven years, argue that changes to current law are needed to end abuse of the system by consumers who shirk their financial obligations when they could repay a portion of what they owe.

'Those who can pay their bills should pay their bills. That's the American way,' said Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Utah Republican. "

Apparently so is obviscating the truth about how many Americans are actually unemployed. AND about how the government is aiding and abetting both itself and the private sector by permitting hiring departments and subcontracting employers to REQUIRE pre-existing or recently dormant security clearances. All before considering qualified candidates in IT related fields, rather than hiring the most qualified and getting them the security clearance they need for the job, clearly in violation of EEOC laws.

Maybe if more qualified AMERICANS could get jobs (instead of importing cheaper H1B Visa labor), there wouldn't be quite so many bankruptcies.

Your mileage may vary. For more material, see the 'Clue Bus' links in the left column.
